But the only way to create long term stability is through shared values. Simply having economic stability is not enough. People having their basic needs met is crucial, of course. It's just not enough, because people are more and need more than their economic/physical needs.

Our shared values came from the biblical worldview. THAT is what people have rejected. Whatever secular stability we had for a few generations was only possible because it was riding on the fumes of the robust biblical worldview that was the foundation of our country in the first place. We've got a few generations now that not only reject the biblical worldview (while barely knowing anything about it) they don't even know that our country was founded upon it!

Societal stability does, indeed, seem like a short to medium fix to stall a revolution. Historically, some destabilizing event generally comes along: a war, depression, or pandemic.
