Personal story:

I was cleaning out boxes of old photos/other stuff. I came across cards from a girl I used to work with. She was our office manager. She was so sweet that we all got along well. I can't say we were very close. But we did form a bit of a friendship outside work. If we had been able to spend more time together, we probably would've become even better friends. After she left, we'd even talked about me working with her in some business venture ideas she had. Nothing much ever came of it. We lost touch.

Fast forward at least 20 years.

I had a dream about her last night. It was so vivid that I could hear her voice and her laugh. I missed her. I decided to look her up and see where she is today.

She's now some sort of high up DEI manager or recruiter. I just stood there, staring at the screen.

The sad part is, I am in need of work. But that is not why I looked her up. I had no reason to think she was even still in the recruiting industry. That was not my purpose. I just missed her on a personal level.

Now I don't even know if I should keep trying to find direct contact information for her. The topic of work would eventually come up and I'm sure she'd want to help me. Sigh.

If you look on WorldCat and put in your location/zip code, you might be able to get it from a library near you.
