Even though I keep saying that the Scandinavian countries are not socialist States (they are social welfare States - not the same!) - there basically isn't really any opposition to socialism here in the E.U.. At least not on the political level - because there isn't supposed to be. So even though we have many hundreds of political parties, all of them basically either lean towards socialism or towards national socialism. So the national socialists get branded as the opposition to the socialists and as your "alternative". But there isn't (supposed to be) any alternative for you if you don't like either forms of socialism.

So even though many parties have "alternative" in their title, in reality the E.U. already has a political landscape that actually leaves you no alternative and at best gives you the illusion of opposition and the illusion of choice and the illusion of democracy and the illusion of providing you with alternatives. So we don't even HAVE ACTUAL conservatives or classical liberals or anyone else that would be against both forms of socialism - or at least such people are completely isolated and have no representation at the political level or anywhere else at all.

And basically the Alt-Right or the fake conservatives ;-) or the Woke Right or Christian Nationalism or "Project 2025" or whatever they might call themselves now or whatever you wanna call them, are all a attempts to do the same in the U.S. and to eliminate any real alternative to socialism and any actual opposition.

yes definitely these conservatives are a problem. As James points out, they are divisive, self promoting, and often racist, anti-semitic. I agree that Fuentes and his ilk, whether consciously or not, also serve the leftist adversary. They make the right look racist, misoynistic, fascist. My question would often be who is financing them? Why does their stuff get promoted? Their real followers are not numerous, a small number of misfits and angry losers. Yet they have large social media followings. I think this is not organic and somehow they are getting promoted by other actors.

Gnosticism will never die. It seems Eric Voegelin saw this coming not so long ago. There is, though, a somewhat convincing argument that Classical Liberalism can only survive in an environment of Residual Christianity. I think western culture is in the last stages of Residual Christianity and is passing into a Neo Paganism where Classical Liberalism will undergo a martyrdom of it's own.
